1. Resolution and Compression
- Atlas PT Ultra Camera: This camera boasts a high resolution, typically up to 4K Ultra HD, providing clear, detailed footage. However, video compression is often necessary to save storage space and bandwidth. Compression formats like H.264 or H.265 can slightly reduce image quality, especially in highly detailed scenes or fast-moving objects.
- Battery-Powered Doorbell: Most battery-powered smart doorbells tend to have lower resolution compared to wired cameras. While Reolink’s doorbells can offer 2K resolution, the video quality might still suffer from compression due to storage and power-saving techniques.
2. Frame Rate
- Higher resolution cameras often come with a trade-off in frame rates. While the Atlas PT Ultra may offer high-definition footage, the frame rate could drop to 15-20 fps in certain conditions, such as at night or during live streaming, resulting in less smooth video during fast motion.
- The battery-powered doorbell may also have reduced frame rates compared to wired versions, which can affect the fluidity of video, especially if someone moves quickly through the camera’s view.
3. Night Vision
- Atlas PT Ultra: Although this camera typically includes infrared (IR) or color night vision, the quality might be lower in very low-light conditions. Details could appear grainy or washed out if there isn’t enough ambient light or if the camera's dynamic range isn’t able to adjust quickly to lighting changes.
- Smart Doorbell: Similar limitations apply to the doorbell's night vision. While it may provide clear footage close to the camera, it may struggle with depth and detail in areas farther from the door or in extreme darkness.
